ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft are fitted with 3M 8641 Removable Belly Tape on sections of the exterior lower fuselage skin to mitigate erosion damage caused by foreign objects like gravel and sand. The modification involves replacing the current Aircraft Protective Tape with 3M AMD788 Polyurethane Protective Tape on all existing taped areas and the interior section of the main landing gear doors. Details are provided in PAL Aerospace Modification Summary MS18033. The existing SSTC, O-LSA18-055/D Issue 1, applicable to ATR-GIE ATR42-300, 320 S/N 298, 235, 329, 139, 203, 142, 197, and ATR72-202 S/N 357, 508, 311, 215, 237, 455, is being reissued to add one new aircraft serial number, S/N 888 (ATR72-212A). The fuselage frame stations for the ATR72-202 and -212A models are identical, ensuring that existing installation details remain applicable with no other technical changes.
